Salvage

“The Earth is a fine place worth fighting for.” — Ernest Hemingway

We’re very proud to launch Nantucket Salvage!

What is Nantucket Salvage?

Nantucket Salvage is an initiative of SA+C dedicated to preserving architectural materials and keeping them in circulation rather than in landfills.

Expanded to Marin County, CA!

Originally founded to protect Nantucket’s historic character and reduce environmental impact, the initiative has expanded to Marin County, CA, advancing a coast-to-coast commitment to material reuse and waste reduction.

Salvage is about more than materials , it’s about continuity. From historic beams to well-crafted furnishings, we work to retain the story, craftsmanship, and embodied value within existing structures.

How You Can Get Involved?

• Leave it! Donate quality furniture, décor, or architectural materials
Volunteer your time or expertise
• Buy it! Support the mission by purchasing reclaimed products made from salvaged materials

To date, over 408 kg of CO₂ has been diverted through salvaged wood, and growing.

Together, we reduce waste, preserve heritage, and build more responsibly, in Nantucket and Marin alike.

Contribute your materials and pay it forward!

We’ll take it off your hands and save you the expense of disposing it.

Purchase salvaged materials at a low cost for your project.

  • SALVAGE ON NANTUCKET

SA+C’s vision for a Nantucket Salvage Center incorporates intentional design that honors Nantucket’s unique history and architectural heritage, preserves its natural beauty, and improves the social health of the island’s residents and visitors.

The Center would collect, store and distribute architectural materials (primarily wood) to the Island, with the goal to create a broader movement of deconstruction and waste diversion on the island.

  • THE MERCH SHOP

Based in Nantucket, MA and Marin, CA, our products grow directly from the work of Nantucket Salvage and our architectural practice. Materials reclaimed through deconstruction, including wood and oyster shells, are thoughtfully repurposed into handcrafted home and office pieces.

Each item reflects our commitment to reuse, material stewardship, and giving new life to what would otherwise be discarded.
